Inspirational Theme Series Overview
Role of Contemplation
For the following digital artwork, Vera used philosophical themes for her inspiration. She feels that contemplation on a philosophical theme gives her greater insight, which in turn is reflected in her art. during the process of contemplation, symbols come to the surface of her awareness. some of them she recognizes readily and others are more obscured. By studying the finished work of art, she notices that the forms and symbols used in the piece of art always seemed to have special meaning for her.
Classification of Symbols
She classifies her symbols as universal, cultural and personal. For example, in the The Golden Goal the sun, moon, and constellations are universal. The triangle, wheel, and dot may be understood differently, depending on the culture. And the images of her family and friends that she incorporated into this work of art are personal.
Creative Process
In general, much of the symbolism in her art has its roots in the mystical tradition of Eastern philosophy. This is apparent in the work Moment of Recognition. In this particular print, the sequential layers and pictorial divisions are indicative of its complexity. Every area has three distinct layers, each representing a deepening in meaning. The top-most layer contains the personal or individual aspect, the middle layer represents the universe, and the bottom layer represents the matrix of life.
Revelation Through Art
In summary, Vera feels that the visual language of color and form touches a cord of recognition that resonates in unison with the supreme Reality. As an artist, she has a compelling necessity to open herself up to the Truth and allow the revelation to express itself through her art.
